Amazon updates Operating Agreement [except USA] but maybe that's still coming.

An outline of the recent changes to the Operating Agreement can be found here:

[affiliate-program.amazon.co.uk]

The only weird thing I saw was:

Quote:
10. Miscellaneous
Operating Agreement Update – effective 1 December 2010
...
You must, however, clearly state the following on your site: “[Insert your name] is a participant in the Amazon Europe S.à r.l. Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.co.uk/Javari.co.uk/Amazon.de/Amazon.fr/Javari.fr/Amazon.it.”

Thanks, Ian! I saw that, and I have to remember to add that bit.

Interesting that there is now an Italian Amazon.

Is the Italian one worth worrying about?

Suppose I could get a surprise cheque every few years.

Dunno. It's another eurozone Amazon store. How many visitors you get from Italy, especially as compared to France or Germany?

(you can combine the FR, DE, and IT Amazon payments into one big fat euro-cheque, by the way)

Oop, I was wrong, each of them pays out separately. That's annoying. The only plus is that you only need to apply once for all of them.

I'll check it out later. I'm certain I have a different ID for each.

Yes, they've semi-merged them, but you still have to use separate links and IDs. I only use UK so it's not something I've experienced.

Yes well if I'm bored one day and not fixing a PC, a Lap top and an industrial vacuum cleaner, mowing lawns or tending my vegies [which are brilliant BTW] I'll set it up just for something to do.

Harold Mate,

I tried to sign up and the minute I entered my email address it said I already had an account, no surprises there.

But when updating site info etc. I couldn't get past the VAT question for some reason. Anyway I wrote to them via the usual Amazon contact form [in Italian] seeking an ID.

[programma-affiliazione.amazon.it]

I used my Google Toolbar Translate which, surprise, can translate https:// pages. Whew and, it does it remarkably well. Very good, don't leave home without it.

I'll let you know what happens.

Ian
