Quote:Dear Mr. Bezos,
I am a long-time customer of Amazon.com. I placed my first order with
your company within a month of the company's start-up. And, I have been
an Associate since the affiliate program began. I chose, and still
choose, to advertise Amazon products on my web sites - and to do my own
shopping at Amazon.com - because of the trust I have in Amazon.
As an Associate I have participated in the official Amazon Associates
for many years. The forum could be a good resource for those of us
promoting Amazon.com and its products. But, for some time now, the
discussions have been overwhelmed by a single individual who continually
attacks others and disparages Amazon. When we report individual posts
which violated Amazon's terms of service, they are, eventually, deleted.
But, there is no active moderation of the discussions or any participation
in them by representatives of Amazon.
As an example, below is the text of one of the messages posted by this
"Screw you, you god damn idiot. Seriously. Go screw yourself, you piece of
The forum software allows individuals to "ignore" posts by specific
aliases. But, it apparently allows one individual to create a number of
aliases. The person in question has posted under many different aliases
including some masquerading as a representative of Amazon.com. He's even
used "Jeff Bozos" as an alias.
The discussion forum could be an excellent resource for those of us trying
to promote Amazon.com. As it is, however, it is an embarrassment. I
would like to see two main things done to improve the forum.
First, I'd like to see someone from Amazon actively participate in the
forum as both a moderator and a liason between us, the Associates, and
Amazon.com. I don't think this would require more than a couple of hours
Second, I would like to see the discussion forum hosted by Amazon.com
itself. Currently, it is hosted by a third-party (Prospero/Mzinga) and the
forum software is unmaintained - old and buggy and poorly integrated into
the "Associates Central" portal at Amazon.com.
The Amazon Web Services Developers Forum is hosted by Amazon, provides
more features, and is actively mantained by Amazon. I'd like to see the
Associates Discussion Forum moved to the same software.
Thank you for your time,

Quote:Any update Roger or has it been embedded in the usual time capsule?got a response from a real-live person at "Executive Customer Relations." She said that Amazon is aware of the problem, but they don't have the resources to assign an Associate to moderate the board. She said they have plans to better combat the problem in the future, but she didn't outline what they are.
