Google strikes again!

"Alleged" duplicate Title Tags:

1. .../impedance.htm

AND

2. .../impedance.htm?ref=ARKADASBUL.NET

Obviously it doesn't exist on my server in the directory indicated. Search Google using the full URL as in 2 above and it appears as a web page???

Search Yahoo and Bing using the same URL and they return nothing. Search Google for the sole phrase "?ref=ARKADASBUL.NET" and you get lots of complaints.

Got me beat. Back to my list of "Short meta descriptions"....

Can be some eejit linking badly to your page sometime in the past, or G testing the state-space of your site.

You *could* perm-redirect such a bogus request to the vanilla page, but I generally wouldn't bother.

Found heaps of them [see 34 below]. Including one site [a forum] hot linking one of my .gif files.

Well worth everyone's time when looking in Google Webmaster Tools to go to:

Your site > Diagnostics > Crawl Errors >

Look for:

Show URLs: Not followed ‎(1)‎ Not found ‎(34)‎ Restricted by robots.txt ‎(27)‎

Click the "Not found" - in my case (34)

Educational.

There's a mixture of noise and value in those reports. It's kinda educational in the the same way as an over-tired nursery class running around with scissors is, ie I glance at it from time to time but don't get too excited unless I see what looks like a systematic screw-up on my part.

And of course I check my local logs from time to time.

Well I fixed up a small handful of screw-ups on my part. Undetected for 11 years but no biggie unless Google doesn't like it. Fixed them anyway.
